Oberlin Club of San Francisco Bay Area: Año Nuevo Guided Seal Walk

Join your fellow Oberlin alumni on Saturday, February 22, 2020 for the Año Nuevo Guided Seal Walk.

Oberlin Club of San Francisco Bay Area: Año Nuevo Guided Seal Walk

Ten (10) spots for an Elephant Seal Guided Walk have been reserved for our outing on Saturday, February 22, 2020. December 15 to March 31 is breeding season, so the elephant seals are hauled up on the beaches of Año Nuevo at this time, along with their pups.

Don't forget binoculars, camera, sunscreen, and water. As with any California coastal event, wear layers; it can be cold and windy. Food cannot be consumed during the walk (but there are picnic tables at the Marine Education Center for before or after).

DETAILS:
12:45 p.m. - Gather at the Marine Education Center
1 p.m. - Tour will begin

PARKING:
There is a large parking lot at the Marine Education Center; additionally, there are picnic tables and restrooms.

Año Nuevo State Parke is roughly 30 miles south of Half Moon Bay on California State Route 1. The exit is well marked.

PUBLIC TRANSIT:
Unfortunately, there are no busses available.

HEAVY RAIN CANCELS:
If there is inclement weather, please call or text Ed Milner '79 one hour ahead of the hike for the status.

EVENT LEADER:
