THE FUTURE OF DINING IN D.C.:
A Baker’s Perspective
A Conversation with Mark Furstenberg ’60, Owner of Bread Furst and Recipient of the James Beard Award as Outstanding Baker
The pandemic has been brutal to restaurants and their employees. How have establishments tried to work through the storm? What will be the scale and magnitude of the losses? Will dining-out be the same or will there be major changes that we as customers haven’t yet considered?
Mark Furstenberg ’60, renowned baker, shook up the local food scene when he opened Marvelous Market in 1990, and he continues to influence how we approach dining through his offerings at Bread Furst and commentary. He will offer his perspective on the state of and prospects for the dining scene in DC and will take your questions and comments.
The program will later pivot into a happy hour where we will break into smaller groups to visit and share experiences of the DC dining scene and identify our favorite “bargain” and “special” spots; we will share the lists as part of the social hour.
