Oberlin Club of San Francisco Bay Area: Lands End Hike

"Lands End Hike"

Join fellow Obies for a hike from Lands End Lookout Visitor Center down to Sutro Baths and back up to the Coastal Trail/Lands’ End Trail to Eagle Point, then back to the parking lot on El Camino Del Mar. There are a number of interesting places to choose from along the trail.

We will meet at the Lands End Lookout Visitor Center which is on Point Lobos Avenue in The City, which in turn is above the old Cliff House.

DATE & TIME:
Saturday, June 25, 2022 from 10:00am - 12:00pm

LOCATION:
Lands End Main Parking Lot
- (NOT to be confused with Lands End Trail Parking Lot)
Merrie Way
San Francisco, CA 94121

There are great views of the Pacific, the Marin Headlands, Mount Tam, the Golden Gate Bridge, and The City.

PARKING:
Please give yourself an additional 15 minutes to find parking. If the Lands End Main Parking Lot is full, there is additional parking at Lands End Trail Parking Lot, 840 Point Lobos Avenue Parking (lot), street parking along Point Lobos Avenue, and along Great Highway below Cliff House.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION:
Please check the current public transit website for SFMTA routes 38 and 38R.

THE HIKE:
The hike is approximately 4-5 miles, with an overall elevation gain of 500 feet, 1 to 2 hours. This is total elevation gain; the hardest parts are elevation gains of 50-100 feet apiece. Afterward, refreshments are available at a number of different establishments. Don’t forget layers, sunscreen, water and snacks for the trail as well as binoculars/camera.
