“Woven Histories: Textiles and Modern Abstraction”
An In-Person Tour Led by Nathalie Ryan ’97, Senior Educator
The exhibition Woven Histories: Textiles and Modern Abstraction reveals the myriad ways textiles intersect with and influence modern artists and movements, exploring the overlap between abstract art, fashion, design, and craft. Learn about dynamic moments when social and political issues have activated textile production and artmaking—from oil painting to weaving, basketry, netting, knotting and knitting. Space is limited. Please register if you are reasonably certain you will be able to attend.
Nathalie Ryan ’97 will lead the tour. Nathalie is a Senior Educator at the National Gallery of Art, where she has led programs since 2002. Nathalie is an educational advocate, author, mindfulness meditation instructor, harpist, and maker of hand-made books. Her first museum job was at the Allen Art Museum in the Print Study Room. Nathalie is a generous volunteer. This is the fifth tour she is leading for the Oberlin Club of Washington, D.C.
