“Learn about Oberlin's Center for Student Success”
A Zoom Program Featuring Amanda Shelnutt, Oberlin's Director of Student Success Operations;
Discussion Facilitated by Alena Palevitz ’07
As the central hub of support on campus, Oberlin's Center for Student Success (CSS) provides comprehensive, holistic services that help supplement the academic experience. CSS helps students maximize their learning opportunities through workshops, co-curricular credit-bearing courses, social events, and leadership programs. Amanda Shelnutt, CSS's Director of Student Success Operations, will share exciting upcoming projects and opportunities for DC Obies to get involved. All Obies are welcome to this conversation, especially alumni who were first-generation college students.
Amanda earned an Associate's degree in applied business at Cuyahoga Community College, and a Bachelor's degree in non-profit administration through Cleveland State University.
Amanda has worked in education and event planning for the past ten years in various capacities. After completing her degree, she joined the Cleveland Institute of Art as an Enrollment Operations Assistant in the Admissions department. Three years later, she was promoted to Office Manager and Event Coordinator where she restructured and ran the Student Ambassador program, was a founding member of the Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity Awareness (IDEA) Council, and assisted in the implementation of the college's inaugural pre-orientation Nunes Scholar program.
As a lifelong lover of the arts and champion for equity, Amanda is committed to working with an inclusive lens; dedicated to self-growth and introspection; and is a firm believer that art can save lives.
Amanda is a mother of two college-aged children. In her free time, she likes to hike, dance, read, cook, and play with her dogs. She also enjoys photography, fiber arts, sculpture, and theater.
