Join Tom Breunig ’79 and Obie friends at Amphora Nueva for a first class Balsamic and Extra Virgin olive oil tasting. We'll have appetizers and a series of balsamic spritzers. Sicilian-American owner Gilberto LoCoco and staff will start by explaining some important aspects of recognizing superior Extra Virgin olive oil, and provide handouts for reference and education. They will help us understand Balsamico and the pairing of it with Extra Virgin olive oil, as well as fusion, and infusion olive oils in salads and other recipes. You will come away with the tools for tasting and understanding true Extra Virgin and Balsamico, from freshness to smoke point. There will be a 10% discount for tasters on any purchases at the store.
For those who'd like to make an evening of it, we can head one block up to Kientz Hall for a light (or heavy) dinner.
