EnviroAlums is a group of alumni who are passionate about sustainability and social justice and who seek to improve Oberlin College, community, and the broader world by empowering students. All contributions go to providing programming and support for current Obies and recent graduates to study and work on issues of sustainability and environmental justice.
From its inception, EnviroAlums has been a strong supporter of Oberlin’s Environmental Studies (ES) Program. A key component of our mission is to raise funds to directly support discretionary spending in the Program that benefits students; the annual budget ES receives from the college does not provide for student travel, conference scholarships and student research. Each year we also collaborate with the ES Program on a highly successful “Careers in the Environment” speaker series and Career Day that has brought in a combination of local environmental leaders and Oberlin alumni (often virtually).
For the past eight years, one of our primary initiatives in addition to supporting ES has been administering a fellowship program for two to five Oberlin students each summer. These Fellows are funded through distributions from our modest endowment and donations to our operating fund. We encourage you to donate today to one or both of these funds. Providing this opportunity is a central component of our work to prepare current students for success beyond their time at Oberlin. Reaching our goal of raising $2,500 will allow us to sponsor an additional student Fellow in Summer 2026. As alumni, we can ensure the continued strength of environmental learning at Oberlin.
