DC Obies Frog Walk: “Big Night” Edition

DC Obies Frog Walk: “Big Night” Edition

An In-person Obie Gathering in DC’s Cleveland Park Neighborhood, hosted by CJ Blair ’18 (pictured above)

Mid-March to Early April (sign up to be notified)

Register Here

With spring around the corner, DMV Obies can soon witness one of the district’s greatest spectacles: “Big Night,” aka, the migration of hundreds of American toads to the Tregaron Conservancy pond in Cleveland Park for mating. “Big Night” is sure to yield many unforgettable photos, along with Grammy-worthy recordings of the toads’ calls.

Much like the cherry blossoms, the exact date(s) of “Big Night” is hard to predict, and it can last for up to three consecutive nights. As such, anyone who completes the registration form will be notified when the conditions are right, and then CJ Blair ’18 will share the exact date for this adventure.

Meet in front of the Cleveland Park Neighborhood Library and look for alums wearing Oberlin gear. Please bring a flashlight, boots, and clothes that can get dirty. This is a free event. Since parking options are limited, we recommend taking public transportation. The library is a 3-minute walk from the Cleveland Park metro station on the red line. You may also take the L2 bus.
