San Francisco Opera Alumni Reception & Performance

San Francisco Opera Alumni Reception & Performance

The San Francisco Opera presents Omar, the true story of a 19th century Islamic scholar from West Africa, enslaved in South Carolina, but finding identity and faith through the written word. Composed by Rhiannon Giddens '00 and Michael Abels, conducted by John Kennedy '82, and performed by cast members including Daniel Okulitch '99, Omar has been acclaimed by The New York Times as a “sweeping achievement.”

Join William Quillen, Dean of Oberlin Conservatory, for an alumni reception prior to the performance.

6:30-7:30 PM | Pre-Performance Alumni Reception | The Loggia on the Grand Tier level
