San Francisco Opera Alumni Reception & Performance

NOTE: The Pre-Performance Reception is full. Please contact the Office of Alumni Engagement at alumni@oberlin.edu to be placed on the waitlist.

The San Francisco Opera presents Omar, the true story of a 19th century Islamic scholar from West Africa, enslaved in South Carolina, but finding identity and faith through the written word. Composed by Rhiannon Giddens '00 and Michael Abels, conducted by John Kennedy '82, and performed by cast members including Daniel Okulitch '99, Omar has been acclaimed by The New York Times as a “sweeping achievement.”

Join William Quillen, Dean of Oberlin Conservatory, for an alumni reception prior to the performance.

Oberlin alumni discount: Use code OBIEOPERA30 to save 30% on tickets to the November 7 performance. Click here to purchase tickets online or contact the ticket office at 415-864-3330. All registrants must purchase tickets to Omar for entrance into the opera house and pre-performance reception.
