Oberlin's Conservatory of Music presents The Oberlin Sonny Rollins Jazz Ensemble, in concert at SFJAZZ performing original works and arrangements, as well as compositions by Rollins.
The Oberlin Sonny Rollins Jazz Ensemble, led by Oberlin Conservatory's professor of jazz guitar Bobby Ferrazza, was established through the support of the legendary saxophonist, who charges the group’s standout student performers to serve humanity through music. The Sonny Ensemble has performed for sold out audiences at Jazz at Lincoln Center—Dizzy's Club and last performed at SFJAZZ in 2020. They’ll be back in 2024 for a performance of new works by members of the band as well as original arrangements of compositions by Sonny Rollins and jazz standards by other artists.
